Always, whenever I think about an alternate and heroic Sephiroth, I just picture him taking the personality of Superman. With the same goals and dreams as the Man of Steel, of a world where dignity, honor, and justice are the reality that everyone shares. The topic alone makes me wonder what I could make with the other villains of FF7 (or FF).
Aligning up each FF villain with a DC Hero, which will be what the personality of each character represents.
Here is a list of pairs so far that I've gathered that suits each character perfectly:

Sometimes, it gets tricky because I can't always pin-point which FF character should behave similar to a DC character. So I gathered up characters from the KH sector to see how it would look. Some exceptions are made (such as Xehanort) to grasp outsider comics, mostly from independent publishers (Darkhorse, Image, Top Cow, etc.) rather than Marvel.
KH image | Name | Name | DC/Indy |
---|---|---|---|
Xehanort (adult) | Jackie Estacado | ||
Vanitus | Eradicator | ||
Saix | GL (Hal Jordan) | ||
Axel | The Flash | ||
Demyx | Aquaman | ||
Luxord | Black Jack | ||
Young Xehanort | Brainiac-5 | ||
Xion | Katana |

- Genesis = Batman (when it came to Sephiroth being Superman, it was so easy to jump Genesis as the Batman. Changed it because Rufus Shinra had a better fit: being an antagonist in the actual game, Shinra would've been a billionaire playboy philanthropist in reverse.)
- Genesis = Eradicator (Genesis was basically a fail Sephiroth project; thus Eradicator. Switched with Vanitas due to artistic resemblence)
- Vanitas = Captain Marvel (This was interesting for me, seeing as how Master Xehanort would have obviously been the Wizard Shazam and Master Xehanort being Vanitas' mentor; you get the picture. Switched with Genesis due to artistic resemblence.)
