Jason Blood is an ancient knight and sorcerer whose soul is bound to the immortal demon Etrigan.

Biography

Jason Blood is the world leading expert on the occult and demonology. He started life as Jason Blood of Norwich was a nobleman and Knight of King Arthurs court in the 6th Century. The demon Etrigan was originally summoned by the wizard Merlin as part of a last-ditch defense of Camelot against the evil witch, Morgaine le Fey. When it became clear that the kingdom would fall regardless, Merlin sent the demon away and bonded him into a human named Jason Blood to wait until he was summoned. This gave Jason immortality and he has since used to the demon's powers to fight against the occult.

Jason Blood and Madame Xanadu were secret lovers for over a thousand years.

Year Three

Jason Blood debuts in the third chapter of the Year Three comic series. Blood allows John Constantine to host a meeting with Batman's Insurgency members and Klarion the Witch-Boy in his home, with Jason silent as Constantine and Batman discuss their plans to their allies, but when Harvey Bullock opens his home doors in an attempt to leave, Jason quickly realizes the seal he placed was broken and orders the doors closed.

When Bullock finds he can't close the doors as a strange light begins to pour in, Blood moves between Bullock and Detective Chimp, ordering them to stay behind him. Jason's eyes glow red as he chants, "Gone, gone form of man. Rise the demon, Etrig-" but Blood is killed in a gruesome manner before he can finish the chant, his flesh vaporized down to the bone alongside Harvey Bullock. Blood's murderer is soon revealed to be the Spectre.
