There is always a choice.

Jor-El was the biological father of Kal-El, Superman, and appears in the prequel comic as a holographic projection of the computer program that contains his memories and will within the Fortress of Solitude.

Biography[]

Jor-El of the House of El was a Kryptonian scientist who prophesied the destruction of the planet Krypton and was not able to convince their high council. He only had time to build one Rocket large enough for his child Kal-El to escape and be sent to Earth, where he was discovered by Jonathan and Martha Kent in Smallville, Kansas; that child would grow up as a great hero to become Superman. His will and memory lives on in the Fortress of Solitude.

Injustice Comic[]

Pre-Comic[]

Some thirty years ago, Jor-El realized Krypton was doomed to destruction from its core destabilizing. He attempted to seek aid from the Guardians of the Universe but they chose not to help him, leaving Krypton to its fate. Jor-El managed to save his only son, Kal-El, and placed him in a small rocket he created, placing a special crystal inside it. After launching the rocket with Kal-El inside, Jor-El held back his hysterical wife Lara as Krypton exploded, killing them both and the entire planet's population.

Jor-El's will and memories would live on in a simulation program within the Fortress of Solitude.

Year One[]

Jor-El appears before his son in Chapter 34, calling to him and expressing great disappointment over his murder of Green Arrow within the Fortress. Superman argues to his father that Arrow and his allies tried to kill him and Diana, leaving him with no choice. Jor-El reminds him there is always a choice.

The program listens to Kal-El as he argues that Batman is trying to stop him from saving lives and stands against him now. Jor-El attempts to remind his son that humanity must determine its own fate and says Batman is in the right. Jor-El and the Kents plead with their son but Superman flies off, determined to stop Batman once and for all.

Martha Kent tells Jor-El they tried to raise his son and apologizes to him. Jor-El sorrowfully apologizes to the Kents for unleashing his son on their world.
